Angénieux is a French manufacturer of photographic and cinematographic precision lenses that was founded in 1936.

Angénieux introduced the first retrofocus lens in 1950, allowing the use of a wide-angle lens on an SLR without interfering with the moving mirror.

It introduced its first zoom lens for motion picture cameras in 1958.
The concept of a zoom lens appeared early, and the first usable models for film were available in the 1930s, but they were highly experimental. Angénieux was among the first to sell zoom lenses on a large scale.
