Triax-based Multi-format HD camera system
Sony HDC-1550 is a triax-based HD Portable Camera, which incorporates newly developed CCD imager and DSP LSI.
Those two devices are responsible for achieving superior picture performance in a variety of scanning modes.
Triax interface would allow smooth integration with an existing studio or outside broadcast infrastructure. At the base station, a triax-to-fibre convertor, HDFX-100, allows connection to a standard HDCU-1000 or HDCU-1500 fibre optic base station.
Industry-first 14-bit A/D Conversion
When Sony introduced HDC-1550 it was first HD camera to utilize 14-bit A/D converter that enables images captured by the high-performance CCDs to be processed with maximum precision.
Newly developed three 2/3″ type 2.2 megapixel HD CCD is in the heart of HDC-1550 camera.
This CCD offers high sensitivity of F10 at 2000 lx and an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio of 54 dB, all of this can be achieved thanks to latest on-chip lens structure as well as Sony HAD sensor technology.
Multi-format operation ensures camera can accommodate all current and proposed HD formats
This camera can operate in a variety of recording modes, including 1080 50i/60i, 1080 24/25/30P. On top of that CCD can capture 1080 50/60P footage, which can be down sampled to deliver the highest quality 720 50P/60P images.
