The Sony HDC-1700 is a dual-format HD camera channel capable of supporting HD and SD signals including 1080 50P/60P and 720 50P.59.94P.

An optional software upgrade enables additional frame rates such as 1080PsF (24P, 25P, 30P), making the Sony HDC-1700 a highly flexible system camera.

The HDC-1700 is a cost-effective solution for a wide range of HD live production applications, including sports, live events and studio work.

Superior imaging capability

The Sony HDC-1700 utilises a 16-bit A/D converter and three-chip 2/3″ Power HAD FX CCD image sensor to deliver for superior picture quality. It features Auto Lens Chromatic Aberration Compensation (ALAC-2) to maintain image quality throughout the full extent of the image.

The HDC-1700 works with Sony’s HDLA range of large lens adaptors, making operation smoother for camera operators, and saving set-up time by removing the need for complex cabling. The camera is a B4 mount, as is standard in broadcast camera systems, so is also compatible with a wide range of HD broadcast lenses, including Fujinon lenses and Canon lenses.

Full compatibility with HDC-2500 and HDC-1500 camera systems

For increased flexibility the Sony HDC -700 is fully compatible with Sony’s HDC-2500 and HDC-1500 cameras and accessories, and HDCU-1000/1500 and HDCU-2000/2500 CCUs. This allows you to integrate the HDC-1700 into a wide variety of workflows. It also offers the benefit of operational familiarity to camera operators and engineers alike.

Future-proof for 4K

With the optional HKCU-2020 4K/HDR Processor Board and HZC-PVR20 Signal Format Software, the HDC-1700 can be upgraded for 4K resolution content creation as well as 4K Live HDR (High Dynamic Range).
