The Sony HDC-F5500 Super 35mm 4K CMOS Camera System is the newest addition to Sony’s camera lineup with global shutter sensor.

Newly developed Super 35mm 4K CMOS sensor is the heart of the Sony HDC-F5500, it delivers extraordinary clarity and shallow depth of field with every scene. On top of the high sensitivity with an impressive signal-to-noise ratio, this sensor uses global shutter technology to allow capture of precise 4K images. Fast moving subjects like sport and live entertainment productions involving LED displays and laser beams would always be captured without the jello effect. Another new addition would be a motorized 8-step ND filter which was inherited from Sony VENICE, which can be controlled locally or remotely for added flexibility.

As its older brother HDC-5500, this unit shares the capability of recording simultaneously SDR and HDR. Adding an optional HKCU-REC50 to the HDCU-5500 camera control unit, allows 4K video and audio to be recorded directly to the CCU with no external recording device needed.

Multi-speed slo-motion

Optional licences enable this camera to capture HD images in high fram-rate (HFR) at 8x, 6x, 4x, 3, and 2x.
