Despite its close working distance, the lens is 1.3′ long, which puts you at a comfortable distance to photograph nearby subjects. Furthermore, as a wide-angle lens, it has a greater depth of field than traditional telephoto macro lenses, allowing for more detail in the background with less subject isolation.
