ES Broadcast Hire, the company’s broadcast hire division, has announced a major expansion of its Sony 4K hire fleet, growing the company’s fleet of Sony HDC-4300 4K camera channels to be the largest in Europe.
The company is investing heavily in Sony 4K HDR technology by purchasing 100 HDC-4300 4K system cameras, two HDC-4800 Ultra High Frame Rate cameras, and two XVS-8000 4K switchers.
The Sony technology will be used to deliver contracts for major sporting events and future-proofs ES Broadcast Hire’s offering as more customers make the move to 4K.
The investment – announced at IBC 2017 in Amsterdam – is the latest step in ES Broadcast Hire’s expansion both of its 4K hire fleet, and of its European operation. The company now has offices in Munich and Madrid, and expects to open a further office in Belgium in late 2017.
Largest Sony 4K hire fleet in Europe
Having been the first rental company to invest in Sony’s HDC-4300 in January 2016, ES Broadcast Hire now has the largest Sony HDC-4300 fleet in Europe. The company has more than 140 HDC-4300 channels, as well as over 100 Sony HDC-2500 cameras and a number of HDC-P43 4K POV cameras.
ES Broadcast Hire chose the Sony HDC-4300 for its uncompromised image quality. The camera can seamlessly integrate with HD infrastructures and advanced workflows, providing a smooth path to 4K to ignite the passion of sports fans. The HDC-4800, meanwhile, offers 8x slow motion in 4K or 16x in HD enabling incredible replay and detailed action highlights.

David Nortier, UK Sales Director of Sony Professional Solutions Europe, added: “This major investment shows ES Broadcast Hire’s continued confidence in Sony and our technology.
“By choosing Sony HDC-4300 cameras, ES Broadcast Hire has equipped itself with an even stronger fleet of 4K and HDR cameras, which will help their customers tell stories to build their brands and audiences.”
Shipment of the Sony equipment will start immediately, with the new cameras and vision mixers being available for hire in the near future.
