Aidan Rook joined ES Broadcast as a full-time member of the systems integration team in May 2020 – but he was already well-versed in the company’s operations, having worked on numerous projects as a freelance engineer in the preceding two years. Prior to that he had been a systems engineer at a UK systems integrator.

Operational experience in MCR and TX facilities

Aidan Rook’s experience encompasses operational roles as well as engineering ones: he spent more than two years with Babcock Media Services in operator roles. As a network operator, he was responsible for monitoring and maintaining a global media network, which demanded knowledge of the full audio transmission chain, including IT networking, satellite and IP distribution, control room playout equipment and TX site operations. Aidan was subsequently a multi-platform operator working in the MCR to deliver OTT sports via an app and internet client. Selected as the first operator within this new team, he played a significant role in moulding the department, creating compliant documentation and providing staff with training.

With a proven aptitude for designing and implementing control systems, Aidan Rook is also proficient at configuring user-friendly, efficiency-led systems, thanks to his background as an operator. Working with your operational team, he can put in place a solution that is set up around – and designed to optimise – your established workflows. This skillset has seen Aidan serve as lead engineer on several of our systems integration projects, including installing a new router and upgrading all cabling infrastructure to UHD at London’s h Studio.

Practical knowledge underpinned by professional qualifications

Aidan Rook’s professional qualifications add further weight to his experience in operator and system engineer roles. He is proficient in audio engineering, having gained an HND in music production, as well as his Dante Level 3 certificate. He is also a qualified Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner.
