    SENIOR CONFIGURATION ENGINEER

    T: +44 (0)1733 214 885

A graduate of the BBC’s training and development programme, Chris Mason cut his teeth in the broadcast industry at connectivity specialists SIS Live (now NEP Connect). There he spent more than 11 years as a technician and support engineer on a large fleet of satellite uplink vehicles.

Engineer roles at outside broadcast company Timeline TV and communications provider Arqiva followed, before Chris Mason joined ES Broadcast in February 2019. He has worked in live events and live sports production environments, courtesy of these roles.

Specialist in broadcast control systems and configuration

While his skillset enables him to work on all aspects of a system delivery, it is in the domain of broadcast control systems and system configuration that Chris has carved a particular niche. Building on his significant experience in this area – he was responsible for configuring the UHD muxes and engineering solutions for a fleet of satellite uplink vehicles in a previous role, for example – he has developed his expertise through a programme of ongoing manufacturer training and practical experience, as well as becoming Dante Level 3-certified. And as an Amazon Web Services-certified Solutions Architect Associate, he leads on the AWS solutions we provide, looking after our customers’ accounts.

Knowledge of RF, TX and RX chains

Beyond the realm of config and control solutions, Chris is also adept at building video and audio systems. He boasts a wealth of experience with RF uplink and downlink infrastructure, having previously been responsible for 20+ broadcasting antennas and their RF and baseband infrastructures. And he is well-versed in TX and RX chains.

Supporting you in getting the most out of your solution

Chris Mason’s background in support engineer roles means he is a key part of our testing and support offering too, working with clients post-delivery to ensure the ongoing suitability of the system for their needs and working with them to fine-tune config and workflows as their needs evolve.
