While a student at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN, Jonny Sehloff fulfilled roles including operating cameras, replay and LED screens, technical management, camera shading, and engineer in charge for NCAA athletics fixtures, worship, theatre, and other events. During this time he worked closely with the production manager on the acquisition and implementation of broadcast solutions including a new Ross Carbonite Black switcher, Evertz router and frame cards, and an audio mixer. He also completed an internship within the college’s IT department as an AV/IT specialist, during which he headed up a project to integrate an new Atlona Velocity control system with custom interface, for classroom technology control.
Upon graduating, Jonny pursued his passion for sports broadcasting by joining the engineering team at the University of Minnesota as a broadcast and audio technician. Here he played a key role in supporting and maintaining facilities, systems, and equipment, including central control rooms, Daktronics LED systems, and athletics venue AV equipment such as Crestron, QSC, BSS, Biamp, and Planar. He also coordinated and provided support to national TV networks ESPN, Fox, and BTN on-site at all venues.
From UM, Jonny moved to the University of St Thomas, in St Paul, MN, taking up the role of athletics media productions systems engineer, with responsibility for managing front-of-house and broadcast systems at venues – notably LED video boards, venue audio systems, and broadcast control systems. Projects completed while at St Thomas included the design and commission of a new control room, with equipment including a Ross Carbonite Black switcher, RTS Odin intercom, Zepay R7 server, Adder IP KVM, and Dante audio network.
Jonny has regularly worked as a freelance Ross XPression operator and Dashboard programmer, as well as a camera operator – experience which he is able to lean on when designing broadcast solutions for ES Broadcast’s North American clients.
Jonny Sehloff holds an array of certifications from professional broadcast manufacturers, including being an EVS Cerebrum Certified Professional and a Crestron Electronics digital media certified engineer and 4K designer. He is also trained in Audinate Dante domain management and holds his Level 3 Dante Certifcation.
Having packed a huge amount of technical and operational experience into the early years of his career, Jonny Sehloff is perfectly placed to help with designing the right solution for your broadcast needs. He will work with you to understand the goals and key considerations of your systems integration project and bring to bear his knowledge of broadcast hardware and software. Further, he can call upon strong working relationships with Group CTO Jonathan Lyth, North American Engineering Manager Tim Grant, and the global systems integration team, providing him with a wealth of support on technical matters.
